About me

Born: 24 February 1960 in Glarus
Brought up in Switzerland, USA and Germany

I first discovered the Ashanti casting technique in 1984 in Max Fröhlich's publication "Das Gold in der Kunst Westafrikas" (Gold in the Art of West Africa). I was fascinated by this inspiring account and tried to use the lost wax method myself.  After initial problems with the clay moulds melting in the heat of the furnace, I contacted Max Fröhlich. With the help of his suggestions I succeeded in making my first pieces, and this was the start of a long-time friendship during which we worked together on joint casting experiments.

From 1995-99 I was a technical consultant at Ashanti workshops for students at the Hochschule für Gestaltung, Pforzheim, held by Prof. Johanna Dahm.
